At Coco Plum Island Resort, we believe that paradise is more than just a place, it’s a feeling, a legacy, and a home away from home for so many of our guests. For nearly 25 years, we’ve welcomed travelers looking for tranquility, adventure, and connection, and some of you have made Coco Plum a part of your most cherished life moments.
To make sure that future generations can continue making memories here, we’ve invested in a major sea wall preservation project, a necessary step to protect our beloved island from coastal erosion. This wasn’t just a choice, it was a responsibility.
We Built It Together
From October 2024 to February 2025, we undertook an ambitious project: constructing a new sea wall from the Overwater Villa to the Serenity Spa as a continuation of our 2022 sea wall initiative. Because of our location within a protected marine reserve, this was no easy task. It took barges, local workers, dedicated staff, and patience from our incredible guests who visited us during this time. To those of you who stayed with us during this period, we cannot thank you enough for your understanding, patience, and loyalty as we worked to protect our island.
Why We Did This & Why It Matters
Over the years, natural erosion has slowly taken away portions of our island, a reality that has become increasingly urgent for us to address. We knew that if we wanted to preserve the magic of Coco Plum for future generations, we needed to act.
As a family-owned resort, we see this island as more than a piece of property, we see it as the foundation of every sunset stroll, every heartfelt conversation on the dock, and every wave of laughter shared between loved ones. Protecting it means protecting the experiences that have made Coco Plum so magical.
For Our Returning Guests
Many of you have made Coco Plum a tradition, whether it’s an annual getaway, a special anniversary trip, a sanctuary during challenging times, or a place where you’ve celebrated life’s milestones. You’ve witnessed the natural beauty of this island firsthand, and with this sea wall as well as ongoing initiatives, we are ensuring that the Coco Plum you love will always be here for you. Coco Plum is a magical private island where life’s most meaningful moments come to life. Some of our guests have fallen in love here, renewed their vows here, and even healed through life’s challenges here. Bella’s Journey: From Waitress to Island Yogi & Frontline Manager
Bella’s story is one of dedication, growth, and passion. She first joined Coco Plum as a waitress, bringing warmth and kindness to every guest she served. Her leadership skills quickly became evident, and she was promoted to Dining Supervisor, where she mentored new team members and ensured exceptional dining experiences.
But Bella’s journey didn’t stop there. She discovered a deep love for wellness and mindfulness, leading her to pursue yoga training. With Coco Plum’s support, she became the island’s resident yoga instructor, offering sessions that guests now cherish as part of their Coco Plum experience.
In 2024, Bella took a transformative step in her journey, traveling to India for a yoga retreat alongside other Belizean practitioners. This life-changing experience, partially sponsored by Coco Plum, deepened her practice and brought new inspiration to the wellness experiences she now shares with our guests.
Today, Bella serves as our Frontline Manager, balancing her leadership role with her passion for holistic well-being. Whether she’s guiding a yoga class or ensuring everything runs smoothly at the resort, Bella embodies the spirit of Coco Plum, growth, care, and a deep love for this special place.
